Stakes Conditions

Cancellation: PEIHRIA reserves the right to cancel the race for whatever reason. If the event is not raced the Associations liability will be limited to a refund of nomination and starting fees only without interest. Nomination fees will be refunded pro rata among only those entering the cancelled race.

Nomination Fees: The race shall be open to horses of the trotting gait for which a nomination fee is paid

Supplemental Nomination $500 September 15^th., 2007 to accompany declaration

All nomination fees to be included in the purse for the Championship final.

Starting Fees and Declaration: A starting fee of $200 is payable upon declaration by noon, Saturday, September 15^th. All starting fees will be added to the purses of the elimination heats.

Qualifying Standards: All horses must qualify to race based on time and performance standards established for the participating race track.

Divisions: If 10 or more declarations are received they will be split into divisions and raced as elimination heats as follows. No heat will be contested with more than 8 horses. E.g.10-16 declarations – two heats, 17- 24 declarations – three heats etc.

Championship: The Championship will be contested by the top eight horses finishing in the heats as follows: two heats – top four finishers in each heat, three heats – top two finishers plus two fastest race timed third place finishers, four heats – top two finishers. In the event that heats are not required and there are at least five horses declared then the race will be contested with a single contest. In the event there are fewer than five horses declared the race will be contested as an Open Trot drawn from all overnight entries on the day with preference to the nominated horses.

Purses: The total added to the purse for the elimination heats shall consist of all starting fees received plus 20% of any sponsorship money added including Government funding. All heats shall carry the same purse based on total added purse divided by the number of divisions plus the Track contribution of $1,000 per heat. The purse for the Championship final shall consist of the nomination fees, plus 80% of any sponsorship money added including Government funding, plus a track contribution of $2,500. In the event that there are fewer than 10 horses declared to start all moneys received will be contributed to the purse for the Championship final.

Money Division: Purses shall be awarded to the first five finishers based on 45%, 25%, 15%, 10%, 5%. Purses shall be paid out by the participating track on behalf of PEIHRIA.

Rules: Unless as otherwise specified above this race shall be contested under the rules of Standardbred Canada and the Maritime Provinces Harness Racing Commission.
