NOTICE OF HEARING

October 1, 2007

TO:    All License Applicants for Live Racing

FROM :    Henry W. Jackson, Executive Director

RE:   Hearing for Licensing and Assignment of Race Dates for calendar year 2008.

On October 25, 2007 at 12:30 PM in Room 208 Burton M. Cross Building (State Office Building), Augusta, Maine, the Maine Harness Racing Commission will hold a pre-conference hearing. The purpose of the hearing is to review the applications submitted for license renewal and race date assignments for calendar year 2008 and to allow interstate simulcasting to those facilities requesting authorization. Further, the Commission will determine what issues can be stipulated to prior to the adjudicatory hearing.
 
On November 1, 2007 at 10:30 AM in Room 208 Burton M. Cross Building (State Office Building), Augusta, Maine, the Maine Harness Racing Commission will hold a hearing pursuant to 8 M.R.S.A. Para. 271, 275-D and 275-N and Commission Rule, Chapter 19, Section 4. The purpose of the hearing is to take testimony relative to licensing and awarding race dates to Agricultural Fairs, Extended Meets and Commercial Tracks to those entities that have filed an application for calendar year 2008 and to allow interstate simulcasting to those facilities requesting authorization.
 
All parties may be represented by counsel and will be allowed to present evidence; call and examine witnesses; and, present arguments to the Commission.
 
The Maine Harness Horsemen's Association, the Maine Association of Agricultural Fairs, the Maine Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association, the Downeast Harness Horsemen's Association and the Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources have automatic intervention status. Other persons desiring to intervene may apply by filing a request to intervene with the Commission in accordance with 5 M.R.S.A. Para. 9054 and Commission rule, Chapter 21, Section 7. Applications for intervention will be accepted until the commencement of the hearing.
