|
November 12, 2009 - by Bill MacDonald - The Maine State Harness Racing Commission today awarded race dates for 2010 to the nine agricultural fairs and two extended meets. There were some changes made to the applications that were originally submitted at the pre-race conference that was held on October 28, 2010. Scarborough Downs added four days to their schedule for 2010. January 2, January 3, April 3 and April 4 were added to their original application. Scarborough also requested that if weather prohibits the track from being able to race on the first weekend in April, then they would use May 20 and May 27, which are Thursdays. Bangor Raceway added three days in July to their 2010 schedule. July 9, 16, and 23 were added to their schedule. Bangor also moved their race date of Monday, September 13 to Thursday, October 14. Post time will stay at 3:00 pm. The commission also passed a ruling where on a day where there is sire stakes races scheduled, the track would be allowed to add one additional dash on those days. In addition to race dates awarded, the commission also heard from the Maine Sire Stakes Advisory Board concerning next year's Sire Stakes Schedule. Of particular note was that the stakes program has decided to go back to the schedule format of three years ago, when the two year old finals will be held in September and the three year old final held in October. Both schedules are link below and also on the main page. 2010 Maine Harness Racing Race Dates 2010 Maine Sire Stakes Calendar
