Wednesday, May 13th The plane ride was uneventful, just the way we like it. We were served dinner on the flight and they had a variety of TV shows and movies playing. We were able to catch a couple hours of sleep, but as you can imagine the seats are not the most comfortable. We arrived in Amsterdam at 8:30am (most of you reading this were still in bed at that time because of the time difference). It took us 30 minutes to walk from our arriving gate to our departing gate to Norway. There is not much to see since we haven’t left the airport. The only thing we have seen are a lot of duty free shops. They are everywhere. We are now waiting to board the plane for Norway... We arrived in Norway at 2:30pm (their time). The flight from Amsterdam to Bergen was a little over an hour. In the lobby we were met by the Sports Manager of Norway, who got us a taxi ride to the hotel. Bergen is on the Western coast of Norway. There are only 2 roads into Bergen because of construction. The sidewalks are mostly cobblestone. The buildings surrounding our hotel are very old. We checked into the hotel and we were able to call Maine and talk to Kobe for a few minutes. My mom is keeping him very busy which is good. We then had to shower and get ready for dinner with the teams that have arrived (Australia, Canada, Belgium, USA). We had 2 choices for dinner, Anglerfish and Reindeer. All but one person opted for the Anglerfish. It was actually quite good. And for those of you that know Jason, he ate most of it, which means it had to be decent. After dinner we walked up and down the harbor with Canadian Champion Brad Forward and his wife, Sam. One thing we noticed is that it stays light out here until 11-11:30pm. It seemed like it was only 4-5pm. It is now 12:10am and some of you are just sitting down to eat dinner and we are going to bed. We need to go to the mall tomorrow to get an adapter/converter to charge the laptop. They have different plug-ins over here. I think I already fried my curling iron....OOPS!!!! The competition begins tomorrow. Wish us luck!!! GO USA!!! |
