Scarborough, Maine – Kelly Case took no prisoners on Sunday (8-5) afternoon as she claimed victory in the Scarborough Downs leg of the Mildred Williams International Ladies Driving Series.

The state of Maine native made a triumphant return to the Downs – the site of many of her greatest triumphs and the track that was once ruled by members of her prolific harness racing family.

"Its great to be back at Scarborough Downs" said a jubilant Kelly Case. "We always enjoyed racing here. It’s a thrill to get back in the winner’s circle -- I wish it was ten years ago."

Case hustled Vinateri to the top, setting torrid fractions at every pole, and assuming the patented Case luge position as she throttled the pacer to a half in :57 off a 27.4 opening panel.

"You look just like your brother Walter out on the raceway" said event organizer, Anne Curran.

"Thank you" replied Case, "That’s a huge compliment."

With the hard work over in the opening half, Vinateri and Case coasted through the final four furlongs en route to an open length victory in 1:59.3 – the 7th seasonal victory for the Maine-bred pacer and the 753rd career win for the lady in red.

Powered by back-to-back victories in the Mildred Williams Series, Kelly Case now vaults to third place in the seasonal standings.
