Scarborough, Maine – Driver Shawn Gray held the hot hand at Scarborough Downs on Thursday (June 19) as the state of Maine native engineered a dominate performance on the local oval en route to recording five winners on the ten-race program.

Gray got the midweek card off to a rousing start by claiming victory in the first three consecutive contests working out aggressive front-running victories for DoItAll (Jamie Gerard Stable), Cranmeadow Raven (Kyle Gibbs Stable) and Bush Delight (Joseph Nelson Stable).

He then expertly coaxed a brand new lifetime mark from Ray Garnett’s Frapper Joe (2:02) which featured a determined first-over bid before closing out the skein of five top-tallies with an in-hand jiggy-jog behind Best Connection -- the second of two wins for trainer Kyle Gibbs on the day .

“This is certainly one of the most impressive displays of driving ability we’ve witnessed this season at the Downs” said Scarborough Marketing Director Susan Higgins “We’ll have to revisit the history books to find the last such overpowering performance but Shawn’s five wins tonight are surely the most by one driver on a single card here in the past two seasons.”

Shawn Gray ascended on Thursday into sole possession of fourth place on the Scarborough Downs leader’s board with 33 seasonal trips to the winner’s circle and now stands only five wins removed from acquiring top-three status.
