Driver Heath Campbell leads Doubleshotascotch to victory in the 3rd elimination leg of the Mid-Summer Classic Pacing Series on Saturday 7/10.
Doubleshotascotch, a recent addition to Scarborough’s marquis pacing series, roared into action on Saturday (July 10), fresh from back-to-back lifetime bests at Pocono Downs. The 4-year-old son of Dragon Again wasted little time in serving notice that he would become a key contender.

Conditioned out of the Valerie Grondin stable and driven by Heath Campbell, Doubleshotascotch sat the conservative pylon path throughout the mile, angling off for a three-wide bid around Scarborough’s final turn. Entering the stretch, the afterburners ignited and Doubleshotascotch sprinted away under wraps timed in 1:54.3, equaling the second-fastest mile paced this season in the State of Maine.

Drew Campbell and Mystical Delight rallied for the place, Rodeo Du Ruisseau (James Hardy) secured the show.

Doubleshotascotch will be one of the favorites in next Saturday’s $25k Final as he squares off against filly phenom, Shady Sabrina, who took this week off from competition after cruising the course last week in 1:54.1. A speed show is ensured. Post time is 4 pm.
