ME Harness Rules for MSBS Point Standings:

Point standings posted on ME Harness are unofficial standings.
Official standing are complied by the Maine State Harness Racing Commission.
We base our points on results posted to the U.S.T.A.
If an appeal of the official results is submitted, point standings are not altered until the M.S.H.R.C. makes a ruling.
In some instances, the U.S.T.A. results were not complete. In those cases, we used standings from the yearbooks.

During the season, points are listed by point totals in ascending order.
If there is a tie, purse earning will split the tie.

Final standings are listed by finishing position from the Final in ascending order, then by point totals in ascending order.
Point totals do not include the Championship Race

Driver, Trainer, and Sire Standings are listed by wins in ascending order.
If there is a tie, UDRS will split the tie. If still tied, then we go to earnings.

Maine State Harness Racing Commission Rules that apply to these point standings:

Chapter 9, Section 7, Part 2:
Dash winners will be awarded 50 points;
Second place finishers will be awarded 25 points;
Third place finishers will be awarded 12 points;
Fourth place finishers will be awarded 8 points;
Fifth place finishers will be awarded 5 points; and
Sixth place finishers will be awarded 1 point.
All points earned during the year will count toward eligibility to the final.
Chapter 9, Section 7, Part 3:
In the event of a dead heat for any position the points for those positions will be added and divided equally among the horses involved.
Chapter 9, Section 5, Part 2D:
The purse will be distributed as follows:
If 5 starters or more 50-25-12-8-5 percent
If only 4 starters 50-25-15-10 percent
If only 3 starters 60-30-10 percent
If only 2 starters 65-35 percent
If case of a walkover 100 percent
