Four year old mare paced the fastest mile for mares of all ages ever in Maine at Scarborough in 1:55.1. She also won 14 races during the year in Maine

Valerie Grondin

Leading trainer in the state of Maine with 120 wins and a .434 UTRS which was second nationally for trainers with 300-499 starts. Leading trainer in the 2006 Maine Sire Stakes with 34 wins, 3 of those in the finals; $293,422 earned in the Maine Sire Stakes.

2006 Race of the Year

CHEWY GROSS winning the Paul Bunyan Invitational at Bangor Raceway.

Driven by Drew Campbell for trainer Jamie Smith and owner Martin Scharf, CHEWY GROSS went wire to wire with fractions of :26.4, :55.1, 1:24.1 and finished the mile in 1:53.4. This was the fastest mile of 2006, and the third fastest mile ever recorded in Maine.
