Class came through on Saturday at Scarborough Downs as the veteran pacer, Mattdultery,
crossed over the half-million-dollar mark in career earnings while recording his
28th lifetime win. Now owned by Kevin and Alec Gee of Falmouth, Maine, the 8-year-old
son of Real Desire ground out the well-earned victory, racing first over and pouncing
late with driver Shawn Thayer calling the shots.
Texas Shootout (Dan Deslands), a winner of over $488,000 in his career, finished
second.
With close to a million dollars of back class between them, they combine to key
a high-priced exacta of $188.40.
A recent arrival from the Pennsylvania circuit, Mattdultery now joins the roster
of Maine’s top-rated trainer, Randy Bickmore, and was one of three winners on Saturday’s
program for the Bickmore barn.
In other news, Gary Mosher held the hot hand recording four driving wins in the
first six races on Saturday’s program, cementing his standing as 3rd rated driver
at The Downs.
Live racing continues throughout the fall meeting at Scarborough Downs every Friday,
Saturday and Sunday at 12:05 pm.
