Scarborough,
Maine –
The
speed
show
continued
at
Scarborough
Downs on
Saturday
evening
as
Rupert
Rupert
paced to
a brand
lifetime
mark of
1:54.2
and in
the
process
recorded
the
fifth
fastest
race
time
ever
registered
in the
58 year
history
of the
southern
Maine
raceway.
The
seven-year-old
son of
Albert
Albert
made
every
pole a
winning
one in
the
$7500
Open
event as
he
blazed
around
the oval
setting
fractions
of 28.1
– 57.4
and
1:25.3
before
turning
for home
with no
one left
to
battle
through
the
storied
Scarborough
stretch
but the
timer
and the
ghosts
of great
pacers
past.

“The old
boy
might
have had
a few
fifths
left in
him
tonight”
said
winning
driver
Shawn
Gray
following
the
feature
race
photo
session,
“He’s
definitely
at a
lifetime
peak
right
now.”
Rupert
Rupert
came
within
one-fifth
of a
second
of
equaling
the
track
record
for aged
geldings
which
was set
just the
day
prior by
his
stable-mate
Ideal
Conditions
who
claimed
top
prize in
the
$20,000
Mid
Summer
Classic
on
Friday.
“I
really
expected
that
Rupert
Rupert
would
come up
big
tonight”
remarked
winning
trainer
Joseph
Nelson,
“He’s so
sharp
right
now that
I
wouldn’t
have
been
afraid
to enter
him in
the big
race
yesterday.
Obviously
we’re
overjoyed
with the
performance
of both
our
horses
this
weekend.”

In other
news,
Kevin
Switzer
Jr. held
the hot
hand at
the
Downs on
Saturday
as he
recorded
four
driving
wins on
the ten
race
program.
It was
the
first
grand
slam
effort
of his
young
career
as he
paraded
down
victory
lane
with Son
Of
Arturo,
Do It
All,
Arden’s
Heritage
and
Prince
Rama.
“Kevie’s
had
three-win
days
before
but
never a
four-bagger”
said
proud
mother
Patricia
Switzer.
“His
father
has
kidded
him
about it
telling
him he
hasn’t
stepped
up to
the next
level
yet. It
was kind
of
ironic
that it
was the
old man
he nosed
out to
get that
fourth
win
under
his
belt.
They’ll
have
plenty
to talk
about on
the way
back
home
tonight.”

Switzer
