Scarborough, Maine – While all eyes were fixed on Gary Mosher’s attempt to secure career win number 5000, Kevin Switzer, Jr. quietly stole the show at Scarborough Downs on Sunday (November 16) as the up-and-coming teamster outscored his more experienced rival, securing four winner’s circle sessions on the ten-race matinee card compared to Mosher’s two.

The twenty-one year old Switzer started the afternoon off in convincing fashion finishing five-lengths the best in the Sunday opener as he swooped up the backstretch to score the 3rd consecutive win for Fred Ward’s Sugar Valley Cathy.

He then persevered with Shesaboldbeliever -- nailing Onestepofbeingrich in a tight race three photo – then willed Bubba Larkin’s Scooty’s Dreamer across the wire after surviving a tiring frontend journey in the fifth.

Switzer saved his best for last through as he and the prolific pacer Lady Dreamer completely decimated the eighth race field, opening up to an 18-3/4 length advantage at the wire as she registered her 18th seasonal victory. Ranked second in seasonal wins among aged pacing mares in North American, Lady Dreamer now closes to within one win of Fernbrook Fiasco who finished second to My Daly Bread at Lebanon Raceway on Friday.

Sunday’s sparkling performance vaults Switzer into fifth place on the leader’s board at Scarborough Downs with 68 victory laps taken during the 2008 season.

In other news, Gary Mosher continued his assault on the 5000 win club on Sunday scoring a driving double on the Scarborough card to record career wins number 4998 and 4999. The Mosher watch will continue next Friday as Scarborough Downs swings back into action with a 12:30 post time.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness racing every Friday through Sunday with first post slated for 12:30 pm (EST).
