Scarborough,
Maine
–
Drew
Campbell
reinforced
his
position
atop the
Scarborough
Downs
leader
board on
Friday
(December
5) as
the
pacesetting
teamster
claimed
top
honors
in five
of the
nine
races
carded
on the
afternoon
program.

Campbell
won four
of the
five
trotting
events
offered
at the
seaside
oval on
Friday
as he
worked
out the
winning
strategy

on the

field
with
Bubba
Larkin’s
Gold
Ball in
the
afternoon’s
finale
to cap
off his
prolific
performance.
With
only
eight
race
days
remaining
in the
2008
season,
Campbell
appears
well on
his way
toward a
successful
defense
of his
2007
driving
championship
at the
Downs
after
setting
the gold
standard
throughout
the
entire
meet.
His 170
seasonal
trips
down
victory
lane now
rate him
a
14-dash
edge
over his
closest
rival,
Rob
Dinning,
who was
idle at
Scarborough
on
Friday.
The five
win
performance
also
moves
Campbell
closer
to
claiming
the
seasonal
top spot
on
Maine’s
statewide
circuit
as the
pride of
Scarborough
Downs
inches
to
within
eight
wins of
the
northern
tier
standard
bearer,
driver
Shawn
Gray,
who has
been
absent
from
competition
in the
Pine
Tree
State
since
venturing
to Dover
Downs
earlier
in the
fall.
