The Maine Sire Stakes visited Bangor Raceway today and two track records fell as the three year old trotters took to the track.

In the day’s 10th race, the three year old colt trotters made their way to the track and for the second week in a row, points leader Willin Dylan make a break. This week it was when he was leaving the gate. He got back on stride in the first turn and was about 10 lengths from the lead. Driver Ivan Davies let the CR Kinetic gelding start gobbling up ground and took back the lead in the stretch first time around and hit the half in the lead in 1:00.2. The Douglass Hutchins owned trotter kept in full stride as he finished the mile in 2:01.1, eclipsing the Bangor track record set last year by Current Closer by 2 fifths of a second.

Race 12 saw undefeated Current Chip grab her 12 career victory as she set the fractions of 29.3, 1:00.4, 1:30.2 and complete the mile in 2:01.2 with Mark Athearn holding the reins. It becomes the track record for three year old trotting fillies at the historic oval. The previous mark was 2:03.0 held by All The Extras, set in 2001. Current Chip is trained by Donald Richards and owned by Thomas Dillon and Walter Hight.

Ella Bella grabbed her first lifetime victory in the first filly division in 2:04.0 for driver trainer Ivan Davies and owner Michael Andrew. William Varney’s Pembroke Champion got his second stakes victory in the other colt division in 2:04.4 for driver Heath Campbell and trainer Valerie Grondin.
