Scarborough Downs Hosts 2nd Annual MSBOA Golf Tournament

The second annual MSBOA Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament was hosted by Scarborough Downs on Monday, August 23rd at the Nonesuch River Golf Course in Scarborough. Hole sponsors, contributors and golfers all helped to raise more than $2,500 for the MSBOA scholarship fund.

Of the nine teams participating, top honors for Low Gross went to Mark Harris, Chris Gurr, Dan Wood and Dan Wood, Jr. Mark Harris also won awards for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive for the men while Susan Clary earned the Longest Drive award for the women. The Needs Lasix award was won by Sharon Terry, Steve Cobbett, Judy Thomas and John Thomas.

Each year the Maine Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association awards scholarships to students with ties to the Maine harness racing industry. In 2010, a total of $12,000 was awarded by the MSBOA to six students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees.
