Here are some various news & notes from around the state.

- Barbra Ann's track record performance at Scarborough yesterday was not only a track record for Scarborough, but it was also the fastest mile ever by a two year old filly in the State of Maine. The 1:57.1 mile erased the 11 year old mark set by Gypsy and Doug Gray set at Windsor Fair in 1999.

- The New England Harness Writers Association's Banquet will be held on October 16 at Hollywood Slots, Hotel & Raceway. Tickets for the event are $25. For more details, you can see the flyer here. Tickets can also be purchased through the MHHA. Call the Augusta office at 623-6442 for details.

- Good luck to Philip "Bo" Sowers, who will be travelling to Delaware, Ohio this Sunday to represent the Maine Amateur Driving Club in the Tim Fauts Memorial Pace held at the home of the Little Brown Jug.

- Shawn Gray won the driving title at the recently concluded summer meet at Scarborough Downs. Shawn is also in the top spot nationally for UDRS. His .416 driving average is the best in the country for drivers with 500 or more starts. Heath Campbell is sitting fifth nationally with a UDRS of .387.

- Kevin Switzer grabbed top honors among trainer at Scarborough's summer meet with 66 wins. Runner-up Randy Bickmore had 64 wins for the meet.

- The MHHA's Annual "Dark Monday" Golf Tournament will be held on October 4, 2010. This year it will be at The Meadows Golf Club in Litchfield, ME. For more details you may contact Sue Clary at 897-3091

- Horsemen are encouraged to attend the next LVA meeting to discuss the monetary stream from Hollywood Slots. It will be held on September 27th at 9:00 am in room 437 of the State House. Please join us in supporting our industry.
