Maine Sire Stakes Point Standings Recalculated

The point standings which determine what horses are eligible for the finals have been recalculated due to a ruling today from the Maine Attorney General’s office.

The change is due to two positive tests that were handed down earlier in the season. In the three year old colt trot division, Rookie’s Rock, received a positive test at the Oxford Fair. In the three year old filly trot division, Angel Left Behind, received a positive test at the Topsham Fair. These two positives were received by this website on October 5 and with consultation with the Commission office, we placed those two horses so that their points were re-distributed in our calculations.

Today the Maine Attorney General’s office ruled that the points cannot be redistributed. This is due to the fact that the two trainers on record of the horses with the positive tests have not signed a consent agreement with the commission nor have they had a chance to have a hearing in front of the commission.

For the three year old colt trotters, the recalculation does not affect the eligible horses for the final. On the three year old filly trot side, the recalculation creates a tie for eighth place between American Will Powr and Dixie Road Jazz.

The post position draw for the three year old Maine Sire Stakes final will be held tomorrow at Scarborough Downs in the Winner’s Circle Lounge at 10:00 am. The horses will go to post on Sunday at Scarborough with a post time of 12:05 pm.
