The Maine State Harness Racing Commission today finalized the race dates for 2011. The only change from the  first draft of proposed race dates that was posted earlier is that Scarborough added two Fridays in December to stay uniform with 2010.       

The commission was also presented with the proposed sire stakes calendar for 2011. The only point of contention had to do with the two year old finals that was proposed to race on Sunday, September 11. Oxford Fair asked that the finals be moved to Saturday, September 10 so that Oxford would not have to race against the finals. The commission will take that into consideration. They are scheduled to approve the dates at their next meeting on November 18.

The commission also approved the addition of 2 dashes on any day that there are stakes races scheduled if the venue chooses to. That is an increase of 1 dash from 2010.
