To honor October as Breast Cancer awareness month the Maine harness racing community will be raising money to support the Maine Chapter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation on October 26 and 27, 2013 at the Scarborough Downs Harness Race Track. All monies raised at this event will stay in the State of Maine.

During the eight to eleven races each day at Scarborough Downs, we will sell pink bracelets for $3.00. While in the paddock, each horse’s shoulder will be painted with a pink ribbon for a donation as well. Last year our fundraising efforts allowed us to donate $1,200 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation by simply painting pink ribbons on the horses and holding a 50/50 raffle. Through the generous donations of the horse racing community we will continue our fund raising efforts on an annual basis.

We’d like to offer some new and exciting opportunities to support a great charity.

This year, for a $130 sponsorship, your organization’s name and a pink ribbon will be lettered on to a “cooler” blanket to be presented to the winning horse. You are also invited to be at this event and present the winner of the race with their “cooler”; have your photo taken in the winner’s circle, before the spectator’s stands and all the people watching via simulcast. You will receive a complementary photo of you and the winner in the winner’s circle. Your name/business name will also be listed in the racing program from Scarborough Downs thanking you for your contribution as a sponsor of this race.

One race each day will be designated the “Drive for the Cure” race. For a $250 donation you would be able to “sponsor” a horse that has been entered into this race. As a sponsor of this race you and the other sponsors will receive a photograph of all of you in the winner’s circle. The “cooler” for the “Drive for the Cure” race will have ALL sponsors names listed. Your name/business name, as a sponsor, will also be listed in the racing program from Scarborough Downs thanking you for your contribution as a sponsor of this race.
